Lawrence Powell, an awarding-winning journalist known to most of us as Larry, has been telling our stories and sharing the reality of our communities with all of Nova Scotia for years. His ability to listen to what matters most to people and reflect it back to all of us in a way that touches hearts and minds has made him one of the most respected journalists in Atlantic Canada.
Larry has long been both a friend and a colleague of Bill – his support while Bill was mayor of the Town of Annapolis Royal and now as he seeks the nomination from the Nova Scotia Liberal Party has never wavered. To say Bill is both proud and humbled by his endorsement is an understatement.
When CBC’s The Story of Us left out Port Royal and the Acadians Larry amplified my voice so that we could be sure that the rest of Canada truly understood that our area is the Cradle of Our Nation. Together, he and I were able to shine a light on the potential loss of Parks Canada’s Archeology Lab in Dartmouth. Ultimately, we helped to prevent our history – the history of Annapolis – from being moved away from us and stored in Quebec. Now, Larry is working hard on the Middleton Railway Museum in the Town Of Middleton and finding a way for even more people to understand how incredible Annapolis really is.
